What’s business for? Economy is great when all of us are being useful citizens and making an impact to keep society good. But how many of us is serving in a balanced capacity creating and sustaining a satisfied life? How bad is it out there when scammers and robbers of our goods and services serves only them and leaves us in want! It’s sucks plain english. So is it really worth doing all this or should we just pack it in a go live by ourselves on a desert island to escape the rat race?

I just finished watching a movie my daughter put on called “In Good Company”. The young punk on a coffee fix gets hired to take over the older more experienced job working for a magazine publishing company. The big fish in the pond, absent from the relationships with these loyal employees, has a grand plan to take over the company and start a bunch of new cutting edge strategies, which includes “letting go” of many employees to suit his plan. The young guy jumps in with both feet enthusiastic to “go big”. The more established employees have everything firmly in place with the accounts they’re serving.

So why is there a problem with the new strategies of the take over bosses?

I am not sure but I know that this must be happening all over our economy right now. The idea is “out with the old” and “in with the new”. It’s always troubling to watch a system that works seem to become outdated. Alarming  the men and women who’ve worked tirelessly to do a good job for a good wage become “dinosaurs”. It’s really sad to watch the fall of great men and women.

For some of these former employees, it’s  early retirement, while others it’s the unemployment line because their age and experience no longer fit the needs of  other companies who want to pay minimally for economic reasons.

I am not one of those but I do understand what it means to be “let go”. I was a stay at home mom and found myself on the “unemployement” line from divorce. I feel for those who lose there jobs and their hope at the later stages in life. I am not sure what the answer is for all of this. I try to stay away from ‘bad news’. It’s so friggin in your face all over the place. It’s affected some people who were successful businessmen and women. I don’t know about all of them but many more people than just the “poor” are finding out what it feels like to be  in the food stamp line.

I have had an opportunity to experience food stamps, living on $25. a week alimony, depressed and lacking confidence. My faith seemed “intangible” while the cold hard truth stared me in the face. I felt helpless and hopeless when I looked only at the circumstances. I could go on but I feel compelled to look for hope in all this.

I feel a need to come along side those who hurt and let them know I have been there and they are not alone. I am not compelled to establish friendships with people who are negative about it all. I just know that if I, being a positive person, experience this, how many others like me are struggling as well?

Like the man who was replaced by the young punk, loving caring relationships were what gave that man a reason to press forward. His relationship with his wife and children and his coworkers seemed to make him feel like living, knowing that it would all work out.  No offense to the young punk, but he had little relational experience, and the employees he fired had little respect for him. He had invested nothing in their life. It was portrayed that this young go getter longed for those relationships.

The writer of this movie wanted to portray the idea that the go getter was the villian and the loyal employee was the hero, which is appealing in this economy. I’m sure the movie made alot of money.

The writer marketed well, as he gave his audience “hope” that he understands what they are going through.  Much of it could be true. Marketing old school methods have their plus’s. The are built on the “relationships” with real people in real legitamate businesses.  With technology going towards online marketing, you have the opportunity to market to more people products that are global products. But in terms of real local businesses, a marketer can be of great help assisting offline businesses capture more of the market by going online. Consulting with these businesses is becoming more in demand as offline old school marketers are being replaced by the “young punks” in many ways.

I believe that a marriage of the two is best until most new  businesses start up using online methods. Whatever business you are in whether online, offline, mlm, and direct sales, people join people. Relationships where you provide a product or service that solves a persons problem, cannot be replaced by a website, youtube channel or twitter. These are all tools that help you establish better relationships and show you as being a real person with really interests.

I guess I am wondering what kind of person really cares about the tweets of a movie star? The satisfaction one feels from reading it is so fleeting to me. I may read it and in no time forget about it. The one redeeming factor I see in some of the You tube clips is the “entertainment” factor. But how much entertainment online does one need? Are we gravitating towards the online as becoming “real enjoyment”? If that’s the case, life is way less than valuable. I know how safe I feel online. I can chat and then just click off if i don’t like the conversation. Real life is way different. You actually invest the time to meet someone. You shower, dress, and drive. This leads to real relationships.

In essence, what I want to say is this: There is hope for you if you’ve lost your job or feel helpless and hopeless and have found yourself lacking the confidence to move forward. I am speaking to the choir. I long for the day that I have the relationship history that keeps me moving forward in my life. Marketing with real people and forming lasting bonds while providing good products and services that help solve someone’s problem is best.  Take this to heart. Relationships with honorable hardworking people is best if you want satisfaction for business success.

The young punks will one day learn this as experience places them in the same position as the older mature employee or businessman. And life goes on. I want to
